FOUNDER
allysen hooks
Allysen Hooks is a dancer, choreographer, and the founder of Studio KINA. The compass of her career and life has been full immersion in movement as both an artistic practice and a vehicle of cultivating connection. Her teaching blends the precision of dance techniques and pilates, the expressivity of contemporary dance, and the joy of athletic movement into an experience that is rigorous, evocative, and cathartic.
After moving to Austin she founded a contemporary dance company, Allysen Hooks Projects, creating professionalized work for local dance artists while fostering a vibrant community through performances, collaborative projects, and an enthused donor base. Studio KINA is a natural extension of this vision - a space where artistry, strength, curiosity, and community come together, empowering people to move with purpose and presence.
A graduate of The Juilliard School (BFA) and Sarah Lawrence College (MFA), Allysen spent nearly two decades performing, creating, and teaching in New York City with internationally acclaimed contemporary dance companies before making Austin her home.
